It is designed for right handed users with a dip on the left side for your thumb to easily access two arrow buttons. The keyboard includes several buttons to customize its experience for the mac and make it extremely user friendly. A power button in the corner lets the person shut down the computer, a mail button lets the user launch their favorite mail application, volume controls for iTunes and even an iPhoto button to access iPhoto quickly. Earlier I said that the mail button can access a favorite mail application (not just Mail). This is because every button that is a specialty button (the home key, mail key, etc.) can be mapped to your convenience.

I mapped the home key to firefox, but to each ones own. This mapping is all done through a very nice System Preferences pane made by logitech that is available by installing from the CD.

This allows you to map the keyboard as you like as well as the mouse. The keyboard is white in color, matching perfectly with the mac. The keys type softly and quietly, with a little cushion to the feel.

I found the palm rest very nice. I am sitting typing this in bed with my laptop connected to my TV via HDMI and it is a very comfortable experience, even at 2 feet away. It is an RF receiver, but testing this finds that it is working at even 6-10 feet away. Your mileage may very, depending on obstructions. You may find the extra wireless extender to be helpful. The keyboard includes a full keypad and 15 function buttons, including an eject key as the 16th function. There is also a nice 'help' key to access a help file if available on a program (using the mac's system).

The mouse includes a scroll wheel with a horizontal and vertical scroll wheel, which can be mapped to do other things as well through the installation CD. The mouse's side arrow buttons and volume control buttons can also be mapped to do something else. I have them as default but you can set them to anything you want. It feels nice and the laser is very sensitive. Adjusting the sensitivity is recommended in the system preferences.

When comparing with the apple bluetooth mouse and keyboard, you are getting much more for your money. The S530 has a mac style/form factor while providing more user features. The only downside that I can think of is taking up a USB port on your device.

Logitech was not going to put a USB port probably to conserve battery life (keyboard takes two AAA, mouse taktes two AA sometimes included, depending on if it is new or used). Overall, this is an awesome package at an affordable rate. I would highly recommend this to anyone.

I used to use the S530 but I had problems with the mouse that came with it out of the warranty period. It started double-clicking everything when I single-clicked. It was highly annoying. When I bought my current 24' aluminum iMac I fell in love with the new Apple keyboard with the (as mentioned above) 'Chiclet' keys. I couldn't see myself using any other keyboard now (except maybe the wireless model). To that I added a Logitech MX Revolution mouse which is hands down the best mouse I've ever owned.

I put the Revolution in it's charging cradle at night and it never drops below 4 bars of charge on the LED indicator. The little dongle for the mouse goes into the right-side USB port on the Apple keyboard and sticks out about an inch. That reminds me of another annoying fact about the S530: no recharger dock and I got sick and tired of swapping out batteries for both the mouse and keyboard. I did have some quirks but they were resolved after installation of the 'control center' via the CD. Customizing the click wheel and other clicks did a good job.

The lack of recharger dock could be an annoyance, but considering that the keyboard powers off when the USB receiver is inactive, the battery conservation is nice with a set of decent batteries. The battery life is also very transparently provided, with different indicators on the mouse and keyboard as well as through the mac system preferences. Although I think the wireless keyboard is nice and mighty mouse is also decent, I consider the value of the extra buttons, full keypad, and the form factor of the keyboard and mouse to be much better value for the money that I paid. The feel of the keyboard may seem a little 'cheaper' to some who prefer the aluminum and small key feel, but the soft feedback I get from this keyboard to me seems a lot better.and from a developers perspective this is an awesome convenience to have all the buttons ready to use.
